IBM Security – Trusteer Labs: My Story of Fighting Cybercrime
When I joined IBM Security's Trusteer Labs, I stepped into the global front line of financial cyber defense. Trusteer was founded with a single mission: help banks stay one step ahead of malware, fraud, and adversaries targeting digital finance. I came aboard as a fraud analyst and quickly became a key force in that mission.
Every day, I analyzed real attacks in the wild—how cybercriminals compromised devices, manipulated transactions, and bypassed security controls. I transformed those insights into intelligence-driven detection logic that fortified Trusteer's products across platforms—mobile, desktop, applications, and servers. My work helped ensure that IBM remained the industry leader in fighting financial cybercrime, closing technical and intelligence gaps before attackers could exploit them.
Building a Cybercrime Analytics Program
As Trusteer expanded inside IBM, a new challenge emerged: turning massive, complex threat data into something customers could actually leverage. I was appointed to lead a new Professional Services team tasked with building that solution from scratch.
I established the blueprint for a cybercrime analytics program—a product, a methodology, and an entire operational process:
- Designed and developed advanced analytics for fraud data collected globally
- Worked closely with R and D, product managers, and internal fraud specialists to drive new features
- Met extensively with customers to gather requirements and solve emerging pain points
- Created courses and trained bank cybersecurity teams worldwide to use the tools and intelligence we built
My team became the bridge connecting IBM's threat research with real-world defense, empowering some of the world's largest financial organizations to detect and stop fraud faster.

Impact and Growth
From analyst to team leader, I helped scale a growing cybersecurity operation into a global program that contributed directly to IBM's ability to protect billions of financial transactions every day.
